You know how I feel about the park. I have a love hate relationship with that place. But it truly is a wonderful way to spend a Sunday Morning.
Zed quickly put the kids in the van, as I grabbed the snacks and put on my coat. When I walked outside Whirlwind looked at me and asked, “What are you wearing under your coat?”
“Just a sweatshirt. ” I answered.
“Let me see it.”
I undid my coat and showed her my Team Canada Olympic Sweater from a few years ago.
`”Oh.” She said, “Not pretty.”
Wow.
I sort of started to giggle and then wondered if this could be a teaching moment.
“Whirlwind, what’s pretty?”
“When you do your eyes and put on lipstick.”
Hmmm… these are not the sort of messages I want to send my daughter. At the same time, I want to put on make up and look pretty. And I do look pretty when I am wearing make up. But, I want her to feel pretty all the time.
But, when it really comes down to it, I just want her to be good at math.
