I loved summer camp as a kid.

I loved the cabins, the cook outs, the games, the silly camp songs.  I loved playing tricks on the boys, kissing boys, and running away from the boys. I loved lining up at the mess hall, skit night and theme days.

I just loved summer camp as a kid.

And I was super lucky that I was not only sponsored by my local church to go, but that my parents thought it was important for me to go each and every summer. And that is why I am sharing this….

 

Now let me explain why this camp is special….While some people eat gluten-free by choice, most do out of necessity caused by Celiac disease, when the body is unable to digest gluten. Gluten-free kids have to strictly watch what they eat to avoid certain foods; this means the experience of going to a sleep-away summer camp is normally out of reach for thousands of Canadian kids. And I don’t like that for some of those kids that means NO summer camp.

Rudi’s Gluten-Free Bakery™ wants to give some of these children the same chance to go to camp as other kids. Canadian parents* with eligible children ages 8-17, can enter the Happy Camper contest by ‘liking’ Rudi’s Gluten-Free on Facebook and helping their child submit a 100-word statement on what makes him or her special. Winners will be notified by April 1, 2014.  You have until March 18th to enter.

So this is the funny part. You all know how much I hate camping in a tent, right?

But, I know some of you people do.  I think you are an idiot, but who am I to judge!
