Las Vegas is a resort more commonly associated with casino gaming than with activities suitable for families to do together, but in fact there is plenty of fun for the family to be found in Vegas – from outdoors excitement to indoors entertainment. In the case of the former, one of the best family activities is visiting Lake Mead, a national park that is still relatively undiscovered, and you can take a boat trip together on the lake. You don’t have to own your boat, as there are plenty of rentals available and with the lake being over 100 miles long, you should be able to escape any crowds.

If someone in your family is not so keen on the water however, perhaps exploring the Black Canyon would be more suitable. It is located on the opposite side of the Hoover Dam to Lake Mead and, although not as large as the Rocky Canyon, you can explore it together on foot. Of course all this outdoors adventuring will probably not suit everyone in the family, but visiting the Fremont Street Experience should placate those who prefer pampering to adventuring. This combines a huge shopping mall with live music, complete with a couple of soundstages, so you can shop, eat and be entertained all in the same place.

What all of this really goes to show, is that there is much more to ‘Sin City’ than gambling at a casino. Once the youngsters have settled down for the night, you might fancy rounding off the day with a little gaming at one of the many available there. Most of the casinos combine great gaming such as slots with other entertainment. For example the world famous ‘Fountains of Bellagio’ show at the casino of that name. You can enjoy a fantastic family friendly lightshow, before unwinding with a couple of drinks elsewhere in the casino.
