My kids couldn’t be more different. Zed and I spend quite a bit of time scratching our heads and wondering how can two kids from the same parents be so different?!
This is a perfect example…
Our 6 year old son came into the mudroom with snow all over his boots and started to walk into the house without removing his boots. I shouted, “Boots off at the door, please!”
He replied with, “Oh, right, thanks for reminding me Momma, I almost forgot!” Then he took his boots off and left them on the mat by the door.
About 10 minutes later our 9 year old daughter came into the mudroom with snow all over her boots and started to walk into the house without removing her boots. I shouted, “Boots off at the door, please!”
She replied with, ” I know! I just wanted to take my coat off first and then I was going to take my boots off! My boots aren’t even dirty, anyways! ARGH! ” Then she took her boots off and left them in the middle of the mudroom making a puddle on the floor.
Because of this, we have to work really hard at parenting our two children very differently. It is exhausting. Our minds are always racing on ways to parent these two very different kids.
And we couldn’t be luckier.
